Chimney Removal

Before we can rebuild a chimney, we have to remove what is left of the old one. This is an intricate job that must be performed by chimney technicians who are trained in this work. Removing a chimney is not a simple “demolition” project where you can just go out and start tearing down the structure.

We take into account how the chimney is connected to the roof, walls or framing, where in the home the chimney is located (along a wall or within a room), and if the chimney runs through a ceiling only or through multiple floors. These and other factors dictate the specific methods we use to remove the chimney.

In some cases, we need only remove the chimney stack (the part above the roof). Other times, we’ll have to remove the entire chimney including the stack and the chimney breast (the part below the roof.) A chimney inspection will tell us how much of the chimney should be removed.
